Hi Guys!

I recently bought and installed a 1080ti and as a result, i seem to be having reboot isssues when playing games. I have installed all the neccessary drivers and can't figure out why iu'm getting this. The PC isn't over heating, i'm getting no warnings and it only seems to be on games that put the GPU under load. For example, i ran the Forest for a good few hours with no issues. Booted up Killing Floor 2 and it ran ok until i upped the settings to Ultra and then it instantly rebooted.

Specs are:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Proc: AMD FX - 6350 (Six Core) 3.9ghz
Mem: 16GB
GPU: Geforce GTX 1080ti
PSU: Corsair VS 550

I'm assuming its a PSU issue, but some clarity would be appreciated. If it is, what PSU should i go for?

Thanks

Ben

Willing to bet it's a PSU... From what I have read and experienced firsthand, weird restarts are your MB trying to protect itself when unexpected/unsafe things happen, like power draw spikes/overages under load. The fact that you set to Ultra and the system restarts supports this sort of conclusion. You are likely running right below/at the maximum wattage and the Ultra settings bump it just enough to be an issue.

I would not run an $700-800 graphics card off a smallish PSU, or a bronze rated one, cutting it too close in my book. I would recommend at least a 650 watt Gold rated PSU, I will leave it to others to debate which brand.

I personally run a 1080 Ti with an EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2, 80+ GOLD 850W.
