[SOLVED] GTX 1660 BIOS screen freezes and sometimes blank.

So, I recently bought a new GTX 1660 apparently I have an old(2010 custom build) CPU i7 1st gen and a 500watts PSU so, I replaced my GTX 1050 with the 1660 and I connected the HDMI cable, after a few seconds the system booted up and I could hear 2 beeps(1 high 1 low) and it showed me an error code(E6) after that my monitor then showed me the BIOS screen and the computer froze, after a number of tries it showed me the same results and sometimes the monitor would go blank after booting without the BIOS screen being showed to me, please help me with this.

CPU - Intel core i7 870@2.93GHz(Lynnfield) quad-core
Motherboard - Intel DP55WG (AAE57629-407)
Motherboard version - KGIBX10J.86A date - 06/30/2011
Internal HDD - 1tb Seagate(In the past i had some issues with the HDD too)
RAM - 8gb DDr3
GPU(Ex) - Zotac GTX 1050 2gb mini
GPU(new) - Galax GTX 1660 6gb gddr5 Dual fan (6pin power supply connector)
Power Supply - Cooler master 500
RS-500-PCAR-D3
ATX 12v ver2.3
My monitor is a VGA only so I use an HDMI to VGA converter.

Please, I really need your help guys.

The beeps you hear would seem to suggest a CPU heat issue. Have you checked whether the CPU cooler or other cables may have been dislodged when installing the new graphics card?

The E6 error code is related to drivers.

If it's the latter, does the GTX 1050 still work with it?

Yeah the GTX 1050 works perfectly, I think it's related to the BIOS issue I will try enabling the UEFI and see if anything works.

Video card requirements:

I might point out to you that your power supply does not have a 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector. It has a PCI-E 6 Pin x 1

that power supply is a duel rail power supply theres a good chance that the way this power supply is designed its pulling too much from one rail causing instability.


also update your bios of the motherboard
