Question gtx 1660 on H81m-e33 motherboard

I have msi h81m-e33 motherboard which has a 1 X pcie express 2 X 16 slot and 1 X pcie express 2 X 1 slot. What this motherboard can run gtx 1660 which requires pcie 3.0?

A PCIe 3.0 x 16 card will work in a PCIe 2.0 x 16 slot owing to backwards compatibility.

Be sure existing PSU is good quality and powerful enough (GeForce recommends 450w PSU minimum). If in any doubt about existing one or it's a cheap one, replace it.

as the motherboard is 4th gen (old) and low end.. will there be any performance drop??

Don't know as I'm not a gamer/don't do any high-performance stuff. Hardware compatibility is my area of expertise, not performance. I suggest you post full system specs in a new thread and ask if there will be any bottlenecks which will stifle performance.
