It will totally work. PCI-E x16 slots have been the same since forever... The only thing you need to watch out for is if the Cpu is weak enough to bottleneck the Gpu

Get "bottlenecking" out of your vocabulary. It's a bogus concept that pretends there's some kind of natural balance between a CPU and GPU.

That is false. With a specific GPU and CPU combo, the GPU might be the "bottleneck" in one game, and the CPU might be the "bottleneck" in a different game.

That's the TL;DR version.

And, NEVER, EVER use a bottleneck calculator. They are worse than useless.
