Hi

I'm on a choice of supposedly getting the 1660S (Asus Rog Strix or MSI gaming x) for the value of 280-290$

On the other hand, an RTX 2060 offer popped off to me (MSI RTX 2060 Ventus) for the price of 350$.. Yes.
Now I don't trust the "ventus" model name from MSI, but I know it's the cheapest out there. and other brands go +30$ on the same card.

Based on performance:
I don't even think about retracying, I'm a regular gamer on 1080p, thats the cake.
RTX 2060 is 21% better on average score, 15 avg FPS on games better than the 1660S.
https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2060-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1660S-Super/4034vs4056

Based on value:
Is it worth it choosing "ventus" over a top tier brand like "Asus rog strix 1660S"or"MSI 1660S gaming x"? I mean on the long run for at least 5 years.
And for the 60$ more on the RTX 2060..ventus, ugh disgusting word.

So am I making a wise decision to pick the long run 1660S with those trust worthy brands? don't forget I'm on budget!
I plan to buy another gpu next time and upgrade my level, this is just a start.

Any help is appreciated!

Go for the 2060 it will last more and will make the xtra money worth it. New gen is coming at Q4 it wise to w8 to see new tech or even for price cut in 2000 series but if u found now a good deal or u need the gpu now go for it. And also when u game at 1080 p at some point u ill need this 15 fps now they might be overkill for ur needs but after some time when u will need 60 fps and u will get 45 from the 1660 u will look back and think for a little money i could make a better choice. Ray tracing is a no factor for me cause u might not play tittle that support ray tracing but the dlss technology is something worth mention and it is only on rtx cards and is used on more tittles than ray tracing.

I'd stay away from Userbenchmark, even if it was the end of the world. Your options are vastly different. I'd just pick the RTX 2060 Super and have all game details maxed out, then see if Ray tracing is something worth looking into.

Because you said for the long run I will say the 2060. If you want the gpu to meet your needs for as long as possible then get the most powerful gpu.

However the 3000 series is releasing in the next 1-2 months. Now they may not release the 3060 straight away it should push the prices down of 2000 series cards.

Isent Nvidia stopping 2070s and up?
If thats the case the 3070 and up will just replace the ones cut out and 2060s will keep the same price maybe?
But yes you should wait til the 3000 comes out

To OP i would try and go for minimum 2060super or rx5600xt if you can manage to stretch the budget. Nvidia is just around the corner with the 3000 series and AMD is just a few steps behind so if you have the patience to wait for november, then it might be a much easyer choice

Okay to finalize my options based on brands:
MSI 1660 Super gaming x (has really good Temps, I think it would last so long + 50$ less)
Or MSI RTX 2060 Ventus XS (it has the worst Temps upto 71c in reviews and this brand is the only choice)
So for the long run that's what I meant, I don't want the 2060 Ventus to die or age early years because of heat, and heat should be a factor in that right?

If I choose the 2060, am I going to regret it 4 years later?

Also I'm in a region where the market is so late and price different, I won't even think about 3000 series until Q2 of 2021

Thanks for help!

71c is not scary and i guess that was the max temp in somekind of stress test or something that pushed it to the limit. I think it can go as high as 89c before it starts throtteling.

Yeah I checked and that was a heaven stress test, a max temp given was 73c, other brands gave more less.

Anyway I got the 2060 on an offer for 350$ which is quite impressive in my area, if it's higher than that $$, I'll probably just get the 1660s gaming x 280$.
Since I'm not gonna commit to it for 4 years let's say, I'm gonna buy a much heavier card (probs 3000 series) when that gets selled in a fair price.
