I'm really into gaming and I want to run the newest games smoothly without any problems.
So I'm taking into consideration the GTX 1660 Ti and probably i7-8700K. Now I don't really want to buy the CPU because mine isn't that bad (i5-4690) but I'm afraid it won't keep up with the 1660 ti, also I want to know if my 500W supply would be enough for these 2

My PC specs as of now:
GTX 960 2G
I5-4690 3.5 GHz
RAM 16GB

The PSU is enough for everything you listed, The i5 4690 isn't a bad CPU at all, you won't bottleneck much, Obviously upgrading to the 8700k will improve frames and your all around experience. If you're on a budget, upgrade to the 1660ti, then later down the road upgrade the CPU, remember when upgrading though, you'll need a new motherboard and also DDR4 RAM. I run a Gtx 1080 with an i5 6500 and i don't get much bottleneck

So buy a new motherboard if I want the 1660ti, is that what you mean or when I buy the CPU?

i7-8700K is definitely a great combo for gaming. You can play any game on HIgh to Ultra graphics at a very smooth FPS rate and yes, 500w PSU is enough for this combo but make sure to get a gold certified one.
