Greetings. I know this question has been asked a lot before. The GTX 260 vs ATI's 5770. From what I've read on different forums they seem to be leaning towards the 5770. I have been thinking about this for weeks but I still can't cement my decision as to what to get... the forums have provided a lot of useful information regarding this issue but everything too close to call for me. I'll list down the things that entice me to get the cards involved.

First, the GTX260 c216

1 nVdia's driver are way better than ATI's I've read.
2 has more raw power than the 5770. probably because of the whole 448bit thing while the 5770 is only 128bit, if I'm not mistaken
3 I have been using nVidia since the Riva TnT era. Familiarity, brand name trust and such sh*t I guess
4 Physx

as for the 5770

1 DirectX 11
2 Power consumption <--- huge factor
3 new tech compared to nVidia's gtx260 c216
4 heat

These are the games I play currently:

World of Warcraft
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2
Gears of War
Guild Wars
Dragon Age
Borderlands
Medieval 2 and Empire: Total War

and the games I will be playing in the future:

Starcraft 2 (duh lol)
WH4k: Chaos Rising
Diablo 3
more WoW

So my questions are:

Would PhysX matter? Because I'm wondering if there will be a big impact on the games I'm currently playing or will play in the future.

What about Dx11? Sure I'm on XP atm but I am going to upgrade to Win7 real soon. Would the DX11 factor have a huge impact in dx11 supported games specially when it comes to framerates?

BTW, I'm running them at 1920x1080 with a C2D E6400, 2GB DDR2 667 dual channel RAM. And I'll be upgrading from a 9600GSO 768MB. So with those things stated, which way should I REALLY go? a GTX260 or the 5770?

again, Thank you in advance.

Peter

lol I thought about that but the dx11 is too good to ignore I think. That and the 4870 is around $15 or so more expensive here. For some strange reason

If are only keeping this 6ish months that you say. I would probably take the Gtx260 in the short run. It will give you the most power right now.

However, Why not just get a 5850 and move it to your new system when you are ready? If you buy a card now and then have to sell it and buy again, wouldn't it just make sense to buy a nice card and move it to your new setup? Are you saying the 5850 doesn't have "serious power" or are you referring to a dual GPU card or something of that nature?

whahahahaha

well I guess it's a good thing then, you can get the 5770 with dx 11, and save some money :D
anyways
what about the 5750?
thought about that yet? what are the prices like around your area?
you might not save a whole lot, but we can try to look for something good :p
on newegg:

ati 5770 : $165,-
ati 5750 : $140,-
I'd say that's about 15% cheaper :p
personally I would go with the 5770 though.

lol Now it's starting to show why I couldn't decide earlier :D Anyway, like I said... directx11 and the power consumption vs a slightly higher frame rate on the gtx260. The 5850 does have some serious power, no doubt about that, but I'm very much interested on how nvidia's next would perform at the same price point. I only intend to sell early because I want to get a bit more than selling it late next year while using something temporary. A dual card set up still wouldn't be an option for me since it would mean I have to power another card... which wouldn't help one bit in keeping the cost of running a computer down.

The 5750 is a bit cheaper, yes, but I wouldn't want anything less than a 5770 since I'll be running 1920x1200 and I don't think the 5750 can handle that with the details set higher. But if I do go with it, I'll have some spare cash on me... you know what that means. Hooker money. Gotta love em holiday hookers

So I finally got the 5770. Happy with it. Looks to me it consumes less than my previous which was the 9600 GSO since the 5770 only required only one power connector thingie. I am happy with it but I'm experiencing bottleneck issues because of my older cpu and slower 667 RAM. I tried overclocking the thing from 2.13 but I only got as far as 2.35. Must be the mobo.

Ypu I do get to play on max settings but I tend to go around 20 in some places with shadows set to max. I set it to medium and I got 35 fps up
