I have just started to overclock for the first time, with the EVGA Precision tool. I would like to know what a good (and safe) oc for the 295 would be.

And here are some specs of the card not overclocked:
It has 2 GPU's, so everything here counts twice
Core clock: 576
Shader clock: 1242
Mem Clock: 1008
Idle temp in my case: 42 Celsius
Load temp after few hours: 53 Celsius

So far i've only been brave enough to oc to 600 core clock =/

a safe overclock would be anything thats stable that doesnt push your load temps over 70c, people on a different forum have been pulling off 700+ with this card

i know they can handle more my HD4850 can handle 170 (proven when fan cable broke) doesn't mean you want to run the thing at those temps, i'm just thinking if hes new to it, he probly shouldn't push it till ridiculous temperatures, you know make it last

yeah...one of my gx2's got filled with dust and was idling at like 85c then loading at near 100... and that card still works fine

my other gx2 i took apart put on some nice thermal paste, and did a liitle mod to the heatsink on it... that dropped the temp to idling at like 50 and loading at mid 60's-70

I have a problem. When i used the OCCT GPU test in windowed mode at the highest res allowed at this mode, it worked great. But when i go to fullscreen at 1920x1080 which is what i usually play at, nothing happened and the test screen was black.

And when i O'C it i had a 10 FPS gain in the windowed mode, but it stopped halfway through and said 'Display driver not working properly, but was fixed'

Anyone have any idea what happened with the tests?

Edit: BTW the core clock was o'c to 701 ea. and shader to 1511 ea. (only applies to second question)

That means that the overclock wasnt stable if you get:
'Display driver not working properly, but was fixed'

why occt had a black screen i dont know.

I use furmark because it raises the temp alot more (but it wont give you a frame rate so you dont know how much the OC improved it.)

HA... Great!

Now when you do this you should monitor the temps carefully and only increase the voltages in very small increments...

but go here and download that
http://www.evga.com/articles/00462/

You can increase the voltage supplied to your chip but it will increase the temperature with it.

Ok i got it, but how do i know what voltage will get me stable?
