GTX 295 Sli sucks

Recently i bought 2 of the 295 nvidia cards and installed them with the newest drivers and enabled Sli. Everything seemed to be going fine, but i just realized that it barely running faster than my 9800GX2. I don't understand why its not going any faster than the other one. When I play Crysis on Very high, 1680x1050 resolution, i get about 20-30 fps tops. I read reviews of this 295 online and they are saying that they are getting 80 fps on the same res also on very high.
Crysis Warhead can get about 30 fps average which is better than Crysis. Still, I'm disappointed in Nvidia and probably wont be buying from them again unless they start fixing things. Its either them, or something is wrong with my computer. My specs are, Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz Processor, ASUS P5N-T Deluxe Motherboard, 8 gigs of Ram and 1000 gig hard drive. For the best graphics cards to be in Sli and still not produce excellent results, is a real disappointment. If anyone can help me in any way, thanks

I think your CPU is the main reason for that. Usually in reviews people use very powerful CPUs such as i7 or qs9xxx

I recommend you buying a cpu for your motherboard, maybe a q9650 :D

You should get much more fps. My 2 gtx260 sli gets about 30fps avg running crysis at 1920x1080 all very high settings and 16aa. Try to overclock your cpu to at least 3.0ghz. What psu do you have? Make sure you have the latest drivers. (no beta)

you don't have near enough CPU to expect proper scaling with those two cards. i would almost bet your performance would increase if you removed one card. overclocking will improve your performance but i nothing like someone on a x58 platform.

I have a GTX295 with a Q6600@3.2GHz and I get 15% less performance than a system with a corei7 & GTX295 and you wondering why you get low performance with 2 GTX295 and Q6600@2.4GHz. Sell one GTX295 and buy a corei7 and you will end up with a faster system.

Michael has a good piece of advice. Sell one of those GTX 295s and get a i7 920 and one of the sub $250 X58 boards.

A stock speed Q6600 cant even handle a SINGLE GTX295 without holding it back.

That`s not good; My rig (see More info) can get Crysis to 37 FPS @1920x1200
(albeit in High and DX9) so I can understand your obvious frustration.
As a matter of course: Uninstall your current drivers, clean out the system with Driver Sweeper in safe mode, reinstall and check the required SLI settings are applied. Also check your MB drivers are up to date and fully installed and that any sound card installed has, once again, the latest drivers installed. Run a Virus sweep(also in Safe Mode) to check no gremlins are stealing your CPU cycles and disable as many running programs as possible, again to free up CPU time. As a last point, make sure you have only ICONS on your desktop, not FILE folders.
Oh, and what is your PSU?
And yes, 2 GTX295 is total overkill at that resoloution, flog one and get a faster CPU.

Good point coozie, i overlooked his resolution. Talk about worthless........the OP needs to return one of those cards regardless of its performance, its a total waste.

At that res you would have been better off going i7, 6gig ram, solid x58 board and a 4890 maybe even AMD 955BE top AM3 board, 8gig 1600 ram a 4890/285 and still have money left over for the ladies this friday night not to mention better frames. bad choice at that res old mate hope you and others learn something from this.

5 minutes with google would have told you that Quad-SLi sucks, but you apparantly are way too busy to actually research what your doing, your just gonna run out and blow $1000 cuz you can and then have the nerve to get on here and bitch about it.

GTX295 SLI is a waste at that resloution, unless you are upgrading the screen ;) you might get more if you overlcoked your Q6600 even if its only to 3.0Ghz

There is only one thing I hate more than morons who spend 1000 dollars without researching their system, use an ancient resolution, then bitch... and that is people that needlessly bump old threads!!!

Can we auto lock all threads that go a few months without a post?

you mean noobs ? basicly just gone for the best graphics cards about okay its only just to make sure but its a big waste, unless you get a bigger screen and game at higher res, but yeah overwise its a big waste of money

Unfrtunately no, forum owners want to let people post in old topics just in case. A pop-up is supposed to come up telling people they're posting in old thread, but I have a feeling most people don't see it, either because they block them, or for the same reason they don't see dates inthe first place ! [:thegreatgrapeape:5]

We're looking at a compromise of some kind, but the necro-posting gets ridiculous.

Manually locking threads may be a solution for problem threads, but in general it's too time consuming.
