nice well i currently have HP with 3GB ,2.8Ghz ,AMD Althonx2 5600+ ,512 MB with (2680x1050 monitor)
but i am getting an intel core i7 2.9 GHz ,blueray and stuff ,gtx 260 ,intel x58 motherboard with cross fire..1TB SATA 2 ...
and i will add on 2x gtx 295 quad with a liquid cooler , new 2560x1600 monitor and if i get the chance a intel core i7 extreme 3.2 Ghz With a ASUS rampage 2 so i can overclock too all time maxxx at 4.2 Ghz And 2200MHz like 184 fps on far cry 2 benchmark

What is wrong, try to play crysis veryhigh DX10 on

2560x1600 with GTX295 = 25fps
1680x1050 with GTX295 = 48fps

1920x1200 with GTX285 = 26fps
1680x1050 with GTX285 = 32fps

So don't play on very high. You cannot base performance on Crysis unless that's all you play.

the 295 GTX does have a limit at one point though since it doesn't have as much ram as 285 GTX or the 4870 X2...it will hit a wall faster than the 4870 X2, which may shift performances.

Games are becoming more texture demandin and AA becomes more necessary in certain games.

but fro 2560x1600, I would do 4870 X2 or 295 GTX...the 9800 GX2 is dead even @ 1920x1200 in some games already.

4870 X2 can range 100$ cheaper:)

GTX295 > HD4870x2 in most games at 25x16. 200MB of extra memory isn't enough to overcome 2 less powerful GPUs.

yes but Those two Faster GPU "GTX 260 cores" Are lower because of heat so the two cores are slower And the 200mb of RAM on the 4870X2 will help at 2560x1600 and the RAM is GDDR 5 My 4870 i have the RAM runing at 1185mhz (4740mhz) ram and the bandwidth is 138.9Gb/s so Just my two cents.

Yes the GTX 295 is the fastest but at the high res. the RAM is what really counts.

The GPUs are actually between GTX260 and GTX280. The 448 bit bus makes up for using GDDR3, the bandwidth is very close to the same.
