I have a GTX 460 but my PSU(CX430 Modular) only came with 1 6+2 pin for PCI-E. This means I can plug in the 6 and then plug in ONLY 2 of the other 6.. I bought the card on Craigslist and I just need to see the fans spin on it to make sure it isnt broken (He provided images but you must always be sure). My question is, before I can get my hands on an adapter can i try to plug it in and see if the fans will start spinning? On my GTX 660ti i remember the power plug had come loose one time and when i started it up the fans spun but it said i needed more power to supply the card, will this do the same or do i have a high chance at it malfunctioning because of the low power?? Thanks

Don't plug in the +2 pins, just the 6. That being said, a single 6 pin should allow the card to power on/up, though I would certainly recommend a 2 molex -> 6 pin PCI-E adapter. Just be sure to attach the molex adapter to 2 different molex cables instead of 2 ports on the same cable.

THanks for the reply I'll do that when i have to chance. and I'm working on getting an adapter asap

The CX430 is from Corsair's "Builder" series, certainly not suitable for enthusiast level GPUs. Should have checked the Minimum System Requirements on nVidia's web site

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-460/specifications

Minimum Graphics Card Power (W) = 160
Minimum System Power Requirement (W) = 450
Supplementary Power Connectors = 6-pin & 6-pin

You need a more capable PSU

This psu will work fine, the GTX 460 has the same power consumption of a 660ti and my old cx430 powered that and an overclocked, power hungry FX-4100.. not to mention my 660ti was also overclocked. Never underestimate the CX430 man

Hey i plugged in half of the GPU's power and it turns on!!! It just doesnt display anything on my monitor, it stays black.. guess ill have to get a adapter to get that working
