Hi guys, I have the MSI GTX 460 Hawk. After owning the card for over a year I thought about overclocking. Now before I even touched the clock speeds I check the reference clock speeds of this card. Naturally its overclock out of the box.

Now whats really bizarre is the fact that the memory clock is reporting 900MHZ. The clock speeds reported from GPU-Z are:

GPU Clock: 780mhz
Memory Clock: 900mhz???
Shader Clock: 1560mhz

However when I visit the Nvidia control panel and click on system information, it says memory clock is 3600mhz?

Is GPU-Z right or? Why is Nvidia control panel reporting 3600mhz when GPU-Z reports 900mhz? :/

Thanks a lot.

GDDR5 is "quad pumped" or for every clock cycle 4 bits are transferred instead of 1. DDR is double data rate so it's "double pumped". GPU-Z like CPU-Z reads actual clock speeds and not effective transfer rates. So your card is performing just fine since 900 x 4 = 3600 effective. CPU-Z reads your RAM the same way so DDR3 1600 reads as 800.

So short answer you are fine :)

Shader clock on Nvidia 4xx cards is always double the core clock.

Thanks, I noticed on this page http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/09/20/msi_n460gtx_hawk_edition_video_card_review/6#.UWJxtJPLqso

They list the clock speeds as 1800 and 3600. What memory frequency is 1800?
