Hello all,

I'm building a new rig since I need to upgrade from Vista to W7. The base system will have a Gigabtyte G1 Sniper Z87 MOBO, and the Intel I5 4670K. The only issue I'm having is whether to stay with the 2 GTX 460's in SLI, or get the Gigabyte GTX 770 2GB OC (OverClock) as a stand alone. I do a fair amount of gaming, as well as PhotoShop and Video editing. Right now it seems a no brainer with the cuda cores.

I was thinking of going with 2 GTX 660's in SLI, but for $30 less, I can get the GTX 770. Any suggestions and help, would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Get the 770 over the sli 460's itll save you alot of heat alot of power and will have a way lower frame time variance and no compatibility issues. Take the 770 hands down
770 > 460 SLI.

"I was thinking of going with 2 GTX 690's in SLI, but for $30 less, I can get the GTX 770. Any suggestions and help, would be greatly appreciated."

The GTX 690 has about double the performance of a 770, and the 690's little brother, the 680 was just rebranded as the 770. There are two 680's on a 690, and getting 2 690's are for sure more than 30$ more than a 770.

That's what I was thinking. But your comment about power and heat from the SLI 460's, didn't even come to mind. And they do put out a bit of heat when rendering photos or videos.

Thanks for the reply.

Actually, the price difference between 2 690's and the 770 is $29. With the package "bundle" discount with another part and the 2 690's, it is that. No discount using the 770 in the same part "bundle".

That is insane! You must be buying a insanely overpriced 770 or a really underpriced 690.
If anything, the $30 difference for the 2x 690's are HUGELY worth it.

Here's the prices for the cheapest 770 and 690's.

Ah crap... my bad. Did a recheck on my "wish list", and they were GTX 660's. Don't know why I was thinking 690's. I'll have to edit that.

Thanks for putting that up, it is a HUGE difference. (enter face palm)

Two 660's are stronger than a 770, about 10-15% more.
