so i'm going to be building my own computer soon enough but i was wondering if its alright to get a nvidia GPU even though im getting an AMD CPU. i just wasnt sure if it made a difference. also if it doesnt make a difference, which GPU would you suggest.

here's the set up if it helps.
-AMD 1090t thuban hex-core
-hyper 212 CPU fan
-crosshair IV formula mobo
-rosewill green series 630W PSU
-seagate barracuda 1TB 7200rpm HDD
-G.skill ripjaw series 4x4GB DDR3

Solution
Gtx 560 is about equel to the 460 so not worth paying the extra money, the 560 TI is much better and you can get it for 200 bucks ( maybe just a bit more, i think around 200 -220 dollars ) You play a lot of games with PhysX btw ? Because if not the 6870 is a lot cheaper and you'll be able to crossfire maybe in the future and i believe your mobo doesn't support Sli. At your resolution all these cards are a bit to much but maybe you'll buy a 1980x1020 monitor one day ? Maybe buy the 460 and with the money you save you can upgarde the monitor. ( and some extra cash obviously )
Good cards ; Evga, Asus, Sapphire, MSI, XFX.
What do you plan on ; playing games or ineternetbrowsing etc ? and at what resoltion you're going to do that ? For games at higher res. better get an HD6870 or a gtx 560. What's the budget anyway ?
If you ever wanne use two cards go for AMD anyway with your mobo. 6850 is slightly faster but the 460 can oc better.

im building it for gaming more than anything else, and if i remember right my monitor is 1680x1050. im trying to keep the overall budget under $1000 so the GPU needs to be around $200 or less or else i would need to change other parts too.

so for a single card would you suggest the gtx 460 or the 560? (im a sucker for physX :p)

also what's the difference between the gtx 560 and the gtx 560 Ti?

thank you.

the 560 is not equal to the 460, the 460 is equal to the 6850 and the 560 is equal to the 6870. the 560ti is faster than them all and is similar to the 6950. All of them are pretty well priced, its not till you jump up to the 570 or 6970 and above that the price/performance ratio drops.

Thanks for the help. i dont plan on getting a new monitor because i'm not too fond of screens bigger than 20" :p so i think im gonna go with the 560 Ti, and i might go with the crosshair IV extreme motherboard since it's pretty much the same thing but it supports SLI, and crossfire :)

Oke, good choice ( though i love my 22inch ) but keep in mind that there are allready some games witch like more than 1 VRAM and imo there will be more in the future. The 6950 2G will be better futureproof. ( cheapest one is 244 unfortunatly so out of the budget :( ) And indeed if you love PhysX it's not an option.
Good luck and fun with the assembling.
