gtx 470 vs r9 270x

Its a no contest with 270x being much better, quieter, and consuming less power.

Get the R9 270X, its much newer and faster, has better power consuption plus it supports Mantle wich may improve your experience and also, most of the games are now being optimized for AMD's cards...

The R9-270X is about equal to the GTX 760 and the GTX 470 is roughly equivalent to a GTX 750. So yes, it will be faster.

I wouldn't even consider the GTX 470 in this situation.
