Are there any details on Nvidia's dual-GPU Fermi card? Will it be named the GTX 495? WIll it be made from Two underclocked GTX 480 cores, or GTX 465 or 470 cores? Either way, I doubt it will un-throne the HD 5970 from the world's fastest single GPU.

Until the GTX 5xx series...

Logically thinking... if Nvidia was to stay within the voltage standard, they would not be able to pair up two 480's or 470's or 465's without crippling them quite a bit and since the 460's would not need to be crippled as much (if any) they would be the suitable canidates but again, i am just thinking out loud, i don't believe anything these days till i see it.

My only problem with 460's being used for a 495 would be that 2 x GTX 460's in SLI would not edge out the 5970 and i don't think Nvidia is about to issue a dual-GPU card that does not take top crown.

My guess is that Nvidia has something up their sleeve, they always do.

If anyone asks "will that fit in and work on my slimline Dell with a 200w PSU?" I suggest we just permaban them instantly!

I'm under the impression that 2x GTX 460 1gb are really close to the 5970. I can see Nvidia putting a pair of fully fledged F104s and clock them at 750 ~ 800 and it will certainly takeover the 5970

wht i'm interested in though is a single fully fledged F104 clocked at 800mhz, i think it'll be on bar with a 5870 for a much cheaper price

I will be laughing my butt off about this all the way home from work...

I'm for banning the fellow who tells you his hardware company builds and test them, that way and it works !

Also the gtx 460 has one inactive cluster. Nvidia might be able to do something with the extra coresX 2, in a dual gpu card, maybe with a nf200 chip for even better dual gpu scaling while costing more, but doing what they have to do, to compete with the 5970. Because imo, thats as important as anything (their thinking, and mine) :)

I already saw a user asking "will it will play Crysis"... you already know what happened after that :D

I'd be interested to see the SLI scaling on a fermi-dual gpu card. We know that the 5970 doesn't scale incredibly well in CF, but fermi seems to be doing just a little better in terms of scaling with multiple cards.

They better come out with something to top the 5970 soon...because ATI is set to reveal their 6xxx series by the end of this year/early next year. I think the only thing going to knock the 5970 out of the fastest single card spot...will be the 6970 :p
