GTX 550ti BOOST or Radeon 7850?

When comparing both, they both look pretty even per anandtech's benchmark. I''m looking for a card that can allow me to play high/ultra for a good 2-3 years, and one that fits between my $150-175 budget.

The Radeon seems to have slightly better hardware, but the Nvidia seems to have great hardware too, and Nvidia drivers are usually spot on.

I think you mean 650 Ti BOOST 😉 I have a 650 Ti BOOST, but I don't expect it to play ultra for 2-3 years. You're gonna want a better card for that kind of assurance (think GTX 680, 770, 780).

Obviously it depends on desired fps, but I wouldn't future proof with a 7870, especially when we're talking about ultra for 2-3 years. Maybe on high for a while, but not ultra, even high depends on the resolution your pumping to. If OP is ok with only high settings, and not a lot more than 1080p, maybe.

i also know this card wont push ultra for the next 3 years, just wanted to show him that there are more powerful cards in his budgetrange.
