Any tip or advice would be So here is my current setup:
Core i5-2500K
Z77 Extreme4
GTX 560 SC
8gb DDR3 RAM
Dual monitor: a Samsung 22" (1920x1080 @ 60Hz)and new XG270HU (2560x1440 @144Hz)
Here's my issue:
When I first got my monitor I connected it using the DVI dual link cable provided, and I was able to select the native resolution (2560X1440), but not the "144Hz" only 60 Hz in both the windows settings and in the Nvidia control panel. So what I had to do was create a custom resolution in using Nvidia's control panel to 2560x1440 @130. * I tried 144hz but it said test failed. Now even though I created that custom res when I would play games like LoL or ESO my fps would still max out at 60FPS even when I lowered quality settings, why?
I figured my gpu is old and probably can't handle that kind of output so I dropped the res to 1080p (both in game and out of game) and lowered the game settings, but still no luck.
I also tried connecting with the HDMI cable provided but I was not able to select the Acer's native res at all so I immediately cancelled that option out.
Note: I'm currently in the process of upgrading my computer too and I just ordered EVGA GTX 980 too.
Although I have the new card on the way any tip or advice would be greatly appreciated
