Hello,

Looking to upgrade my monitor to the Dell S3422DWG, but my system is limited to a GTX 560 TI and an I5-4460 with Intel® HD Graphics 4600.

The max DVI resolution on the GPU is 2560 x 1600 , however the max HDMI res tops out at 1920 x 1200 . Dell monitor only has DP and HDMI ports, no DP output for GPU.

Any chance my GPU can support 21:9 (with a DVI to DP or HDMI adapter or something like that)? I believe the integrated graphics can support the WQHD, but if I wanted to game, would have to switch between the GPU and integrated and what would that look like on the display (large black bezels when using GPU)?

While technically the DVI could output 2560x1080 60Hz if you need a common ultrawide resolution, the question is if you want to spend say another $40 on a DVI to DP adapter to get that and you still can't even run your monitor on its native resolution.

Of note, DVI to HDMI is limited to single link DVI, which tops out at 1920x1200 60Hz.

I do plan on upgrading the GPU in the next year, but I would like to get the monitor now. I'm ok if I can't run the monitor in it's native resolution temporarily. I just want to know how/if I can get my card to output to 2560x1080 60hz to the monitor, and if I can't, what would it look like to have 1920x1080 on a WQHD.

Can you suggest an adapter that would work for this?
