GTX 560Ti or GTX 570 or HD 6950?

I've managed to sort all the other components for my new build but I'm still not sure on the GPU. I have the money for either a single GTX 560Ti or GTX 570 or HD 6950, the GTX 570 will be stretching my budget though but I'm willing to do it if it's worth the extra money. I'm purchasing a motherboard capable of SLI and Crossfire so an option is to by the cheaper 560Ti or 6950 and buy another later when prices drop.

I'm planning to play games such as Deus Ex, Battefield 3 and Skyrim on a 1920 x 1080 display.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The GTX570 is the most powerful.And will still be the most powerful when you decide to SLI.

I'd go with a 2gb 6950 then see if you can unlock it to make it into a 6970, superb performance and a hefty saving over a GTX570.
Although getting a version 1 6950 2gb is getting harder and harder.

I know the GTX570 is the most powerful but is it worth the extra money, I'd be more likely to SLI with the 560Ti more than anything but would a single 560Ti handle those games on max or very high settings at that resolution?

BF3 is the most demanding one.In that game I would think you could barely get away with playing in the 30's with high details.But that would also mean a powerful CPU.I've heard that Deus EX isn't very demanding so you shouldn't have any trouble with that.

$270 for a GTX570 is a crazy good deal.It's practically the same price as the GTX560ti and the 6950.Seems only logical to choose it.Price to performance ratio is right on the mark with it.

If your wondering how they perform in BF3 look up some benchmarks of BFBC2.It's practically the same just BF3 is using a more demanding game engine.

I'd snap that deal up any day on the GTX570, but unfortunately I live in the UK and the cheapest I can get a GTX570 is around £250 whereas a GTX560Ti is about £150

I would go with the GTX 560Ti because it will do a good job with most games and it wouldn't take you long to save up for another especially once the new cards come out and the prices on the older cards drop.

With the prices that high for the GTX570 where you live then I guess the GTX560ti is the next best thing.I would reccomend going with the Twin Frozr you already have picked out.It has some of the best aftermarket cooling on the market.

I agree with the twin frozr as the cooling solution but you do have to consider the support as well. IMO you cannot beat Evga warrenty and tech support plus they do put out a good product. My vote would go for the Evga GTX 560Ti.

6950 crossfire is equal to 570 sli.

And you can almost get 3 6950's for the price of two 570's. 560 Ti is a bit slower single-card and much slower in sli.

I don't know why but I remember the GTX570 SLI being more comparable with a 6970 crossfire.Nvm it was in single not SLI/Crossfire.Toe to toe the GTX570 matches if not exceeds the 6970.It's the scaling the 69xx series offers that makes them so good.

Yep crossfire scaling is making up the difference. 6870 crossfire is basically the same as 560 Ti sli over a large selection of 15 games.

It's actually the CPU bottleneck that is making up the difference. Using a higher CPU OC puts the GTX 570 SLI in its proper place, ahead of the slower 6950 Crossfire setup.

I don't think so. Anyway if that was the case surely there would be no increase in the 3-way crossfire or tri-sli results?

That's not what happens, in fact...

The better scaling cards (the 6950's) pull away, just like you would expect them to do.

Note that this includes the very poor (negative fps) scaling for 3rd gpu in AvP for the 6950, or it would be a far bigger lead.

The 6950 scales better but as a single card the GTX570 even rivals the 6970.

Not disagreeing with that, the 570 and 6970 are very close in single card setups. The reason the 6950 is the better choice is down to money plain and simple. At such close performance to the 570 I don't see any point in buying a 570. That counts for the 6970 as well btw - it is also poor value compared to the 6950 and not worth the extra outlay imo, in fact looking at current prices the 6970 is hugely overpriced and I'd take a 570 over that any day.

That's horribly overpriced. Comparing those 2 the 570 is the clear winner.

It depends how long the OP will take to buy the 2nd card.I personally would much rather have a GTX570 so I can get smoother gameplay,a little impatient.

I went for the 560Ti in the end Gigabyte with the 2 fans.
After reading through all this though I'm almost tempted to get in touch with the company I ordered from and change to a 6950 :/
I'm pretty sure the 560Ti will still do a more than decent job for me though?

Overclock it above 900-950 mhz and you will be very happy. You will also be pleased with the drivers and PhysX if you play any of those games.
