I was trying to find some information about my current video card which is a geforce gtx 570. In Another forum i was told that this card doesn't use the 4GB of ram it has on it. It only uses 2.5 GB of ram from my vid card, and 'borrows' the other ram from my sticks of ram on my mother board. I haven't ever heard of this.

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce GTX 570
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1086&SUBSYS_15793842&REV_A1
Display Memory: 4044 MB
Dedicated Memory: 2508 MB
Shared Memory: 1535 MB

your getting confused. the card doesnt have 4gb Vram but only merely 1280Mb of vram.since u enable onboard graphics and since its boring from your ram the overall ram is 4gB
