GTX 570 not working on new HP ENVY.

Hello,
I just bought a GTX 570, and I have a very new HP ENVY H8. Both brand new. But, the GTX 570 will not display on the monitor. I Have a Corsair 600w PSU. My mother Board is PEGATRON 2AD5 IVY BRIDGE, and it says the vendor is INTEL. Its PCIE x16 slot. I have had no luck getting it to display. Also Running Windows 8.

make sure you connect all the 6 or 8 pin PSU to the card and put the DVI cable to the head of card

it is a newb advices..
if it is not working you may want to claim warranty of the 570

Look, I'm not stupid. Every thing was plugged in where it was supposed to be. The monitor just stays in sleep mode.

Dude, Just installed a GTX570 into my HP Envy H8XT (I7-3770) this morning.

Same problem initially but it eventually activated the monitor and presented the Windows 8 login screen.

I've had it hang up on me a few times since....same symptom, monitor just goes to sleep mode. It happened when my son was playing Planetside 2 and tried to go into fullscreen window mode..... black screen, monitor goes to sleep, and only a reboot will fix.(btw able to play the game with graphics maxed out and looks too cool)

Also, when booting I cannot access the Mobo BIOS as the boot up screen is not displayed, ever, and the monitor get's turned on just before the Windows 8 login screen comes up.

It appears that there are compatibility or setting issues but I have not been able to pin them down .....

I had the exact same problem, and found out how to fix it.

You have to use the default video card and go into the HP ENVY BIOS through windows 8
Then turn off Secure Boot and switch Legacy Drivers (on or off, the one it isn't by default)
These should both be found in the same BIOS menu.


then turn off the comp, insert new video card and voila.

Confirm that this works, way to go. I struggled for 5 hours with this.

This worked for me as well. This only seems to happen with Nvidia cards (tried 560ti, 690, and Quadro 4800). An ATI R9 290 started up normally. However, still having issues with the video card trying to render in After Effects. The nvidia driver keeps failing during renders. I've got the HP Envy 700xt. Although we also have a HP H8xt which handles the same video cards no problem. Very frustrating.
