I read this thread

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/118108-13-freezing

and tried the fix (upping the voltage on my gtx 570 using msi afterburner) and ran a stress test on it, after about 4-5 minutes the card hit 89 degrees c and shut off the computer. Now I fear the card died because the computer turns on but I get no video signal. I feel like an idiot but saw this thread and thought it would solve my problem. Am i correct in thinking that a.) I'm an idiot and b.) the card is dead? or what's up.

Well, you're not exactly an idiot. But, the voltage may be unstable for bootup, or it might truly be dead. Do you have the ability to use onboard video? I might be able to give you instruction from there
