I have a gtx590 and it was artifacting only when the sli is on and if i turn sli off both gpus operate just fine without any artifacts. I think the problem is with the sli chip.(After reinstalling the drivers there are no artifacts but the pc refuses to start normally sometimes and takes a few tries.) I am going to repaste the gpu and replace the thermal pads i want to know if the sli chip is the problem and (can it be fixed with the heat gun trick) or the VRMs have gone bad. one more thing i have the gpu undervolted.

Full PC specs:
Zotac GTX 590 (875mV) default is 913mV
FSP HYDRO G PRO 750W
2X4 DDR3 RAM@1066MHz
CORE 2 QUAD Q9400@2.66GHz (undervolted 1.25V)
MOBO: G41M-P25(MS-7592)
256GB SSD
1 TB 7200RPM HDD
7X120 MM FANS

I think the green chip is the sli chip. correct me if i am wrong.

Yea the green one is the PLX chip for the PCIE bridge. I guess you’re a oldschool gamer and that’s your oldschool pc, so good luck.
