GTX 650 goes on my old video cards (GT 430) specs

I bought a GTX 650 recently, but according to GPU-z the video card is running on 700 core and 800 memory frequency. I also dont see any improvement in fps when im playing games.

I used a program called Vtune on my previous card, which can change the default frequencies. I didnt uninstall it when i changed the card. Is it possible that it changed the default specs?

Also, GPU-z says that the current bus interface is PCI-e x8. Should i reinstall my motherboard driver and then the vga driver?

If you have an SLI motherboard ensure the GPU is installed in the primary PCIe x16 slot identifiable in your motherboard's manual.

I'd advise uninstalling your Vtune application. Also fully uninstall your GPU's drivers, reboot, download and install the latest (non-Beta) drivers from Nvidia's website.

i have a GIGABYTE 770T-D3L motherboard, it doesnt support SLI.

I've already uninstalled vTune and re-reinsalled the drivers but there is no change except for the bus interface. It recognises the PCI-E x16 now.

When i uninstall and reboot then the Windows automatic driver installer or whatever install a driver and it sets up those 700/800 Mhz frequencies. It recognises that its a gtx 650. although it only sees 96 shader processors.

A windows reinstall would solve the problem?

It's very possible your PSU is slightly underpowered for your GPU. A 400w PSU is recommended for the Geforce 650. However, that's a conservative estimate and personally I'd recommend 500w or more.

If at all possible try your GPU in a different system - preferably one with a high-powered PSU. If you get the chance, try a 500w or greater PSU in your current rig.

It's very possible the GPU is underperforming due to power constraints. If that's the case it means your PSU is working at maximum capacity, which can be very taxing for the component.

so is it possible that the frequencies and the shader processors are accidentally the same as my previous card's?
There isnt much difference in the real power consumption. GT 430 has 49W and the GTX 650 has 64W according to the specifications.

Follow this process to remove your old drivers:

Go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Display Adapters > Right-Click GPU and Select 'Properties' > Go to the 'Drivers' Tab > Click 'Uninstall'.

Verify the Uninstall was successful by proceeding to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Add / Remove Programs > Look for your drivers in the list - if they're still there Uninstall them.

Reboot your system and install the newest drivers available from the manufacturer's website.

If this fails, consider trying a driver removal program, many of which are available free online, to cleanly remove all old drivers from your system.

If the system believes your new card is your old card, it can only be as a result of residual drivers, potentially because VTune will edit driver and registry files.

i downloaded a display driver uninstaller. The program recognised the GT430 and the GTX 650, i uninstalled with it however it didnt solve the problem.

I have another PSU. Delta Electronic DPS-460CB. Shall i try with it? i doesnt seem to be much powerful to me.

Another option is that you may be CPU bottlenecked in the game(s) you've tested. It'd be difficult to bottleneck a GTX 430 or GTX 650, but an old Athlon X2, original Phenom, or Core 2 Duo could do it. Anything along those lines.

A change from ~50w to ~65w shouldn't really be enough to cause problems, and tbh it doesn't sound like a PSU issue to me. Every time I've heard of a PSU underperforming, the PC would shut down randomly in games.

i dont know, i checked the frequencies with aida64, and through nvidia control panel and all of them wrote the same datas. I will try to reinstall windows, that should solve the problem for sure, right?

If you're dealing with a software (driver / registry) error then reinstalling Windows almost certainly should fix it.

Before reinstalling Windows try the advice listed in this thread:

It's specific to the GT 430. However, instead of installing the GT430 Drivers, install your new GTX 650 drivers.

Try the tip of running a Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode.

i uninstalled it with advanced uninstaller in safe mode but still doesnt work.
i think there isnt any other option left, i'll reinstall windows, i'll let you know if it worked or not.

nVidia control panes still thinks its running at 700 Mhz...

Do the BIOS store any data about the video card or i cought a bad one? Its quite unbelievable that every data is the same as my prev card... Should i contact nVidia support or is it a no go?

Are you certain the card is installed in the PCIe x16 slot of your motherboard?

You could list your motherboard here and I'll point out the correct slot or consult your motherboard's manual to confirm it's in the PCIe x16 slot.

SLI / Crossfire capable motherboards often have the secondary PCIe slot running at 8x.

It's also possible that you might be running a PCIe x16 1.0 motherboard. This will cause bottlenecks in the card's performance.

That is indeed the correct slot.

You could try checking your BIOS to see what statistics it reports about the card. Creating a new hardware profile in the BIOS could potentially correct the problem.

You're looking for the PCI-E x16 slot information. There may be an option attached to this setting to change the slot's speed. You should ensure the slot is set to x16.

You could also try Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Display Adapters and check what your GPU is listed as there.

device manager knows its a GTX 650.

i havent find any multiplier for the PCI-E, only frequency. it was on auto.

what is VGA BIOS? when i boot the computer, the first thing it says: nVidida geforce gtx 650 VGA BIOS. maybe i should update it?

i tried to flash a GTX 650 vBIOS, but i got errors.

WARNING: Firmware image PCI Subsystem ID (10B0.0FC6)
does not match adapter PCI Subsystem ID (0000.0000).
WARNING: Firmware image Board ID (E010) does not match adapter Board ID (CE07).

I also tried to flash a GT 430 vBIOS (its interesting, that the Board ID is similar in this one)

WARNING: Firmware image Board ID (CE13) does not match adapter Board ID (CE07).
ERROR: GPU Mismatch

The modification date is 07/03/14, so its not my fault, it seems like someone screw up the vBIOS before me.

It seems like a faulty card, it was too cheap to be true. I'll contact the seller and hoping for a full refund.

BUT my old GT 430 doesnt work now. when i try to boot, the comp beeps 1 long and 2 short. It means monitor or graphic card error. How could i make it work?
