GTX 650 upgrade

I recently built a computer about a month ago and I am looking into the future for a gpu.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: 1 year BUDGET RANGE: $200 all said and done

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: gaming, internet

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: EVGA GTX 650 and 500w PSU

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: Asrock 970 Extreme4
AMD FX-8320 @3.5Ghz
8GB Corsair Vengeance
LG DVD Drive
CoolerMaster HAF 912

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: amazon, newegg, tigerdirect

PARTS PREFERENCES: No preference

OVERCLOCKING: Yes

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920X1080
Currently I have my graphics card extremely overclocked, almost to the point of instablility. I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU when to the 700 or 800 series of Nvidia cards are released.

I just want some thoughts or suggestions from others if it would be worthwhile to upgrade.

I just thought that I'd mention the fact that I live close to a MicroCenter in case it helped.

Hi. You can go with either the HD 7870 or GTX 660 for around $200 or less if you can get one on sale. I think the cheapest one is around $195 after rebate right now. When next gen cards arrive, they will get cheaper.

the 650 is still a mid end card, so you have room to upgrade for sure.

If you can hold out, I would wait and see.

Many new mid end cards get closer to more high end current cards with each generational upgrade.

Also new mid-high end cards use less power then the previous ones.

Wow, I never that the 650 was considered a mid end card.

I'm waiting for about a year so I think the 700 series will be out by then.

This does not make the 650 a bad card, everyone has a price or performance level they are looking for.

Thanks for the link! I'm just not sure that a $200 upgrade is really worth ~15-25 fps because my 650 is OC'ed past the power and superclocked editions.

That is up to you.

If you are at a frame rate you are happy with, you have no need to upgrade.
