Hey,
I'm looking to upgrade from my GT 640 to either a GTX 650Ti or GTX 660. I play skyrim, COD:BO2, Battlefield 3, Far cry 3, ac 3, and some other newer titles.

Additionally, I currently have a 550W PSU and I'm not sure if that will be enough for either of these graphic cards. I also have a pretty small case, and I'm afraid it will not fit.
I'm on a somewhat limited-budget so I do not want to buy a new PSU if I don't have to, and want to know if the 650Ti will be plenty for me?

my system has:
Phenom II 3.4ghz quad

8GB Ripjaw ram

Micro motherboard

and a 550W PSU.

Thanks

your psu is enough. that system might draw 200W without a gpu when overclocked... neither the 650ti boost nor the 660 will draw more then 150-200W when overclocked.

which means you have a bit of headroom. you probably could bump it up to a 670/680 just fine as well if you wanted.

A 670 would certainly be pushing the envelope... As in that would not be a good idea.

Your CPU is a 125W CPU, then factor in the 660 which draws near 300W under full load, you're looking at roughly 450Ish including Ram, fans, etc. You would have no headroom for an Overclock on either the CPU or GPU with that power supply. The 650 TI Boost draws near 250W at full load which would be better. Both are "similar" in performance. Less than 10 Frames in most games. So its really going to be up to you if you want to take the risk on that PSU. Others may have better input though

As long as you don't overclock the GPU or CPU you should be fine, but I would certainly upgrade it when you can. 650 Would be plenty, as its enough for my overclocked i5 and 7950
