Gtx 660-->Gtx 760

Yes for sure.

GTX 760 is a pretty cool GPU and can max out almost all games out there without much trouble.
Upgrading to it from GTX 660 is like upgrading to GTX 660 Ti + GT 210. You would notice the difference in frame rates.

One more thing, if possible you can save some more money and wait till October when AMD would launch its HD 8000 / 9000 Video Cards. According to rumored specifications they would trump all the current video cards.

I would hold off for sure upgrading your current gpu. The main difference is you will see the middle ground between the 660Ti and the 670 which will be faster for sure then your GTX660 however not enough to warrant the cost for a small upgrade. I would wait a generation or two before quantifying a large upgrade.

And will those cards be affordable?

So should I wait for Maxwell architecture?

Yes definitely. They should come in all ranges (Like HD 7000 series) and AMD is already well known to keep its costs very low when compared with Nvidia.

I've been an nvidia fan for a long time...I may switch. Can you clarify some AMD issues for me? I heard the drivers are terrible..

Ah no not at all. There is nothing like that.

The only thing with drivers is that if you crossfire two AMD cards (TWO) then you encounter microsluttering issues. That is all. One ATI Radeon Card works perfectly and encounters no issue whatsoever.

I am myself using HD 6850 since last 1.5 years and did not encountered any issue at all with anything.

Nvidia seems to be more in tune with the community...And I love Advanced Physx..
I'll wait until October and look up comparisons.

I've seen the amd gpus are about the same price for price-performance ratio. I've seen an amd card that was 10 dollars cheaper than the equal nvidia counterpart and nvidia blew it away by 10-25 fps gains

Nah. There are exceptions always.

Take example of very current video cards.
7970 retails for $330 now a days. Overclock it and it reaches the level of GTX 770 which costs $400.

That is the difference.

Anyways, I can not force your decision. It is solely your choice of which GPU you want to buy.

I never understood on how to overclock gpus..

I wouldn't say overclocking is as simple as that. You need to go into testing to make sure that your overclock is stable you need to make sure that your voltage is okay that your boost is okay and all that jazz.

In the end I would yes wait till something much later Maxwell perhaps but I would wait and see what is available at the time you may find AMD an attractive option for your next upgrade.

However for now unless you are really wanting to break the bleeding edge I would hold into what you have or plug in another GTX660 and land yourself with near GTX680 performance.

that wont work with 660's, and most kepler gpu's, they have a very limited overclock on the GPU, you might get +50mhz stable without a bios flash to raise voltage. Ram overclocks well normally at least +300mhz.

if your power supply has good quality it is more than enough. i run my 660s using 700w PSU (see sig for model)

Depends on your other components but 750 should work for SLI

What other components does it depend on besides the psu?
