GTX 660 not showing up under device manager.

So i have used the GTX 660 for about 5-6 years by now, but suddenly it has stopped showing even though the fans are still spinning. I have tried putting it in another PCI-e slot, but i did nothing. And also uninstalling the drivers, but now when i try to install them again i get the message that "can't find compatible graphics hardware" from the installer.
Updated the BIOS just now to ensure that was not the problem either.

That's not good, especially if the fans are still spinning and it has worked for years. Typically they do tend to degrade their performance before they croak (graphical artefacts, lines across the screen, changes in colors and so on), but sometimes they can die suddenly. I would take out your gpu and get it into repair shop for testing. Likely it's well and truly dead but might as well check. If it is, you'll need a replacement.
