GTX 660 or 660ti worth the money for a used one?

Have an old HP PC I'm hoping to not have to replace, currently has a GTX 260 that died. From what I'm told, due to my BIOS level (which is as high as it can go), I can only go up to a 660 or 660ti if I stick with NVidia. Looking on ebay, people are still wanting like $60+ to $100, which I'm kinda thinking is a rip off perhaps. I'd be happy with something that 1) works and 2) is at least no worse than what I had.

What do you all think I should do? Is there a sweet spot for older cards somewhere in between a 260 and 660?

Depends. if it's used that's a massive ripoff. if you've found some that have never been opened let alone used, that's not a bad deal. currently the 1050 is basically identical to the 660ti. gpus don't last forever, you're talking about a 5 year old gpu. If it's used, the chances that it will survive much use at this point is pretty thin.

it's a P6310Y

I was doing some reading about using case fans as a replacement fan, but I don't know which Arctic fan to get. I have a spare PWM fan but that connector is too big to plug in where the existing GPU fan goes on this card. i wonder if it would work again if i just replaced the fan.

Yeah, they're all used. that's what i thought, thanks.

I can't find anything that limited the GPU. I have put new GPUs in older machines than that. I would get something locally and see if it work. If it is too much just take it back and say it didn't work with my machine then get online at a cheaper price if it works.

The only thing is, and this is true for newer Dells with 4th gen inetls and newer, they will NOT work with ANY PCIe Gen 1 Device. Only Gen 2 and 3.

You will need to upgrade the power supply for a GXT 660 or 660 Ti. The good news is that it looks like that motherboard uses standard connectors, so as long as the case fits a standard power supply you are set. I would also agree that for an older board like that, with that chipset, it's best to go with a guaranteed compatible generation of card.

A 2gb 660 or 660 Ti is a good match for a Athlon II X4. As far as pricing, buying used requires patience. Once you've identified what you are looking for, you need to wait until you see a good deal. You will pay more if you are in a rush to buy. For reference, an AMD HD 7870 or 7950 will get you in the same performance level and are just as compatible.

Sorry, forgot to mention before, I had to replace the PSU a while back so it now has a 500W in there. So what model cards would you guys recommend? Looking like a GTX 660 or 660ti or AMD HD 7870 or 7950? any other options?
I'm definitely not in a hurry and definitely not looking to spend premium dollars since the machine is already super old, but I want to extend it's life as long as possible.
