So bought this card with my first pc build. i3 3220, corsair gs700, 8gb corsair ram, gigabyte z77m d3hh mvp board. So dowloaded lastest bios, drivers for card, and all windows updates. So when i play gw2 i can play it on ultra 90fps for around 5 mins until the screen goes black then it comes back running around 25fps. I get an error msg say window nvidia kernel error. So from reading and research ive learned alot of people get this issue with overheating cards. So i was just thinking and i downloaded EVGA precision X. i cranked the fan speeds up and started gw2. Been playing for 25 mins with no crash now. So it was a heat issue i guess. anyone else have this issue? Im stilll gonna go ahead and RMA just because theres prolly a faulty part thats overheating and such but i just wanna know if i could do anything else to help the issue.

Well it seems that it is a gpu fault indeed. I have never heard of this problem before though it may happen if you are unlucky. Sometimes if you get a used card you buy all the previous user's dust and filthy fan as well, so a good thing to do is to inspect and clean the card before putting it on board. Do your RMA and then if the problem still occurs then give us a shout. But I doubt you will still have the problem..

What are the card's temps? Both at idle and under load. Precision X should tell you. Also you can download HWMonitor to see. You need to know that heat was causing the problems not just guess before sending the card back.

Did you install the newest WHQL driver from the Nvidia website? Kernel error can often just need a new driver or a reinstall.

If you're using Precision X, click on the Monitoring button, then click on the monitoring tab, and then check the box " Log history to file". Choose a place to save it. This will log everything that is going on with the card with a time stamp. So when your screen goes blank, and your FPS slow down to a crawl. Look at the time on your computer. Then go to the log and look for around that time and see what was happening, See how power it was using, temp when it crashed, all sorts of cool stuff to inspect...

ok i will play with that but also i notice when i start playing the game or anything the fan on the card dosent kick up at all:/ that could be one thing but im gonna go with the idea of heat causing this becuase all of this stops when i kick up fan speeds.
