Gtx 660 vs gtx 570

Hey guys, I'm building soon and debating between the gtx 660 and 570. The gtg 570 is about $260 and the 660 is $230 (the gigabyte model oc model with 2 fans is 240) which one is the best? the other components are I5 2500k and 8 gig ran and asrock z77 pro3. Which one is the best? In terms of performance? Particularly bf3 multiplayer at 1920 x 1080 ultra? Thanks!

The 570 would be the more ideal option, unless you meant 660ti.

The 660 and the 660 Ti have very similar performance despite the 660 being much cheaper and using less power. How can you say that the 570 is the more ideal option when it is far more power hungry, slower, and more expensive? Even worse is that you recommended the 570 despite the fact that it has a mere 1.25GB of frame buffer for a game that can easily be bottle-necked by that. It's literally almost as non-ideal compared to the 660 as it can get.

Youre joking right??? 570 surpasses 660 non ti. And 660ti is on par with 570, hence 570 would be the more ideal option. He wants to run bf3 at max settings, i dont think he cares about powerconsumption as much. Hence why the 570 is more ideal, it beats 660 non ti in every game. And btw 660 and 660ti are not similar in performance, theres atleast a 10 to 15fps difference in every game.

570 had poor VRMs(like 590) to begin with, more power hungry and is beaten by 660 in most benches, So going 660 is your best bet. But neither is going to look pretty for Battlefield3 1080p ultra with a high AA.

Ultra = not looking pretty

4XAA you will have problem reaching 60 FPS(this is single player, in multiplayer it is even lower because CPU bottleneck on high player count maps), 0XAA though you should be fine, Techpowerup uses a different set up than Tom's so the FPS is not cross comparable:

Highly recommend getting a factory OCed 660, like the MSI GTX 660 TFIII/ASUS DC2 Top/Gigabyte OC

Some factory overclocked 7870s beat the best 660s by a little. It'd be more fair to mention them and the factory overclocked 660s than only one or the other.

Honestly, I consider the 660 versus the 7870 to be close enough to just toss a coin for choosing between them overall unless you like overclocking a lot, care about compute advantage, or care about bit-mining. If you play games that favor one over the other, more power to you, but even in such situations, they're still both very close.

Given that he only mentioned GTX card I assumed he needed PhysX(and that he mentione BF3 where Nividia seem to have an edge). If PhysX is not a need then good 7870 OC model like the MSI HAWK are also good choices.

Thanks, guys, I am now going to pick the GTX 660 as the more superior option. The regular one was $50 cheaper and the Gigabyte OC was $20 cheaper, so I went with OC. Thanks for all your feedback!
