Hey! I'm having issues with my GTX 670 and am looking for advice and ideas.

Off all games I play (R6 Siege, War Thunder, AoE 2 HD, Rocket League and OW) Overwatch and Rocket league have had some problems with crashing. Crashes have been similar, screen going black / off / single color and PC requiring reboot to get back up. Others have worked completely fine.

OW crashed again yesterday, but now with a message saying "Your rendering device has been lost". In addition to this, I saw some colorful artifacts in Battle.net launcher window, and only in that. Looking up, finding said message to be pretty common in OW forums, I tried to restart the game. Now the menu showed more artifacts, and eventually crashed with a green tinted view.

After reboot, windows had changed to a 4:3 resolution, and only a maximum of 1280x1024 was available. Checking my devices, Windows shows my GTX 670 with a yellow warning sign with the code 43. Furmark, Heaven Benchmark and MSI Afterburner don't detect my GPU. Furmarks GPU-Z does show the specs though.
During Windows startup, my display shuts down for a good 20 seconds before coming back up again. The fans of the GPU are spinning.

Here's what I've done:
- Uninstalling drivers with DDU in safe mode.
- Re-installing drivers, both newest and a bit older in safe mode. (in normal mode, screen goes off and doesn't come back, requiring reboot)
- Updating MoBo BIOS
- Updating vBIOS to the latest available (with NVFlash)
- Removed heatsink, changed thermal paste
- Monitored temps, seem normal
- Disconnected and reconnected GPU and cables
- Tried another PCI-E slot

I can't restore Windows to an earlier point because there isn't any. Can't underclock or stress test cause the programs don't detect GPU.

Any ideas what to try next, or is this just how GPUs die?

Only thing I have in mind is heat treating the GPU with a heat gun, maybe to squeeze out the extra month to have the time to choose a new one, if this is indeed done.

Well, even a nail in the coffin of this card is definitely helpful.
Already cautiously looking for replacements in fact.

Gotta see if someone chimes in with a miracle trick in his sleeve in the meantime.

Thanks for the recommendation! In fact I'm kinda debating if I should go with MSI RX 580 Armor 8gb OC, which is on sale close to me here in Finland for 268€ (£234) or if I should "invest to the future" and get a RTX 2060 for 399€ (£349). Leaning towards the 580, since I play, and plan on playing with 1080p for now and I could stick with it for a good year or two. Probably even more since I'm not shy about playing on medium-high settings.

If it's two years until you plan to upgrade, I'd definitely go for the RX 580. Don't pay for performance you can't use; the money you save today can be put towards something more powerful when the day comes you can use it.

A follow up to this:

I "fixed" the problem following stevenjemints insight, by getting a new GPU.

I ended up ordering a Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ Special Edition, which actually was a bit cheaper than the MSI Armor I mentioned. Just had to wait two days instead of getting it right away. Was definitely the right move. Everything seems back to normal now.

Thanks for answers!

Great to hear, the Nitro+ is by reputation the best RX580. Good Choice.
