GTX 670 issues

Ok, so i recently bought a gigabyte gex 670 windforce edition. I have it installed and with the disc drivers. Im a noobie so obviously I expected it to work right off the bat without taking anything else into consideration. I hopped on crysis thinking I could FINALLY run this game. Only to get MAX 23 fps sometimes dropping below 7.. that cant be right?! I have no super gaming rig, here are a list of specs:

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9500 Quad-Core 2.20 GHz (crappy CPU? possibly bottlenecking GPU?)
RAM: 10 GB
OS: Windows Vista 64 bit
Motherboard: Pegatron Corporation NaRRa3 (what ever the hell that is)
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 370 (CPU-Z says the size is 0MBytes but should say 2048 MB , IDK why either)
also I have a coolmaster extreme 500w power supply and had to use the 8 pin adapter thing that came in the 670's box.

Im just not sure why, If you see problems with this set up (im sure there are plenty) please tell me how I can fix them to get this card up and running! Much thanks to all who help out 😀

update to the latest drivers at http://www.geforce.com/ also ima say your cpu is a bottleneck to the gpu.

Kinda figured, I cant even find one for sale anymore. It just might be a tad old. Any recommendation you have for a new cpu floating around the $100-$150 mark?

That CPU is like 5 years old (Nov 2007), and a crap one at that. Its no doubt that its your CPU. I would recommend upgrading your CPU and motherboard/RAM, and maybe a new power supply as well (Adapters are not recommended for permanent usage, only temporary usage.

You would have to do something like a G860 with a H61m and maybe new ram (depending if your current one is DDR3, if it is, keep it.).

you can get a G860 for $80 and a H61m for about $60. I would recommend getting another $50 and getting an i3 for good performance.

What am I looking for in a processor/motherboard? I already knew I was gonna need a new power supply. Should I just buy an new comp, or upgrade?

Agreed it is the processor holding him back this is what happens with a CPU bottleneck your card is pushing and pushing and hitting a brick wall. You are going to need new memory, a new CPU, and a new motherboard to keep up with your card. I have the card you purchased you are going to need more. If you do decide on overhauling your system provide us when you can.

1. Budget: Please supply the range that you would be willing to spend for your GPU you will probably need to spend 300-400 dollars to get your GPU where you want it to be (to get a respectable system you can take going forward not just for now but going forward)
2. Do you have the desire to overclock if so you will probably want a aftermarket cooler.

If you could give me some small quick builds that would be very helpful, lets say a budget of $100-$200(if possible) $200-$300 and then your personal recommendations for the $300-$400 range. I want to also thank both you and JJ for your time. Im pretty sure my current ram is DDR3, but I have no idea weather 10GB is enough.

For you I would say 100-200 dollar is not possible. I can push the 300 dollar system closer to 400 if you wanted however I went with a decent i5 with the first build and the best ivy bridge i3 I could find for the 2nd. I went with non overclockable motherboards because z77 boards would of cost more and i went with low profile ram in the event you decided you wanted a more beefy cooler in the future.

If you can afford the last one, this will give you the option to SLI down the road, and its also the best build out of all of them. I honestly, for the sake of budget, would go for the second build, because out of the box, the second build verses the third build, there is very little difference gaming wise.

EDIT: Found out you have DDR2. If you want, swap out the PSU for the same RAM that bigshootr chose.
