Hey guy's there have been rumors that nvidia is going to launch their new 700 series line up on May 23,Seeing as I am building a completely new system soon, I'm wondering if it would be worth the wait. You see I live in the Philippines so most probably Even if the new gtx series releases soon, they probably would arrive in stores here, a few months after they are released, also I would expect them to be really overpriced and run on a crappy reference cooler. Now I'm wondering if I should wait or just bite the gun and get a gtx 670(or 7950).Since my gtx 560 ti is starting to feel just a little bit worn out now and just not cutting it anymore.Oh and this for gaming(@1080p) btw. On a sidenote though Since it's a new system,Do you thing that I should wait for Maxwell too? Or is Ivybridge Sufficient enough? Tnx in Advance 😀

You mean Haswell ;-) Maxwell is GTX800s so a while off yet! Anyway, GTX700/Haswell gains probably won't be huge but enough to be worth waiting a month for, especially if you have a decent card already. Would be silly to buy now when new stuff is so close. Even if you end up taking the GTX670, it'll likely become cheaper once the GTX770 launches.

Hmm well I don't know, Since its just gonna probably just gonna be a refresh. Maybe if it was new architecture I could wait. Since like the Kepler release, From Fermi to Kepler = twice the performance gain, But with this from Kepler, I estimate maybe a 10-20% gain with possible heat or power draw reduction. So that's why I find myself in a dilemma, since its just gonna 10-20% better but priced at $500-$600 and no doubt will come with a reference design. Also availability is a problem in my country,If I wait, its gonna be probably September or October until I can get one,and at that point why not just wait for Maxwell right?Lol. Hmm I'm curious though on how well will the gtx 670 fare in upcoming titles like Gta V(The only game that I am really waiting for this year) fair.Plus I really wanna enjoy my experience in the Summer Since It's currently Summer here and Class starts in June so I will be preoccupied again with School work and such.

Well maybe just grab that GTX670 then. It's a really excellent card and I'll be surprised it struggles with GTA5. No promises of course - they're not the best-optimised games, but GTA4 was more interested in CPU muscle anyway.

If it's a GTX770 you're considering, I doubt $500-600 - it'll almost certainly be priced the same as the GTX670 (which costs the same as the GTX570 did when it launched and the GTX470 before that). nVidia have been pretty consistent with GTXx70 pricing. And of course Intel's prices don't really change - old models are simply replaced with their updated versions at the same price tag.

Personally I'd be patient, but it's very unlikely you'll miss out on much by buying now. Main difference with a GTX770 is that it'll likely be a 4GB card. Not much use currently, but it could mean you get more life out of it in the long run for future games.

Hmm I guess I'll just bite the gun then and get one hha.Tnx for the answers :),also One last question how do I choose best answers here in tom's hardware?Or how to close a thread?
