I am building a system and want to know if it's better to have 2 GTX 670's sli or 2 AMD Raedon 7970 (normal OR GHZ edition) crossfire.

Appreciate it :)

Unless it's a Nvidia optimised game the 7970's will usually offer better performance plus they have 3GB vRAM compared to 2GB on the GTX670 (although you do get a 4GB 670 at more cost).

Out of interest, why the 670 and not 680? A decent 680 is about $450 which is the same as a GHz edition 7970.

Yeah I wanted to keep the price low but I checked the Toms Hardware review of gtx 670 sli and it beat the 7970, not sure if it was ghz ed. though. Also, people say that even though the 7970 has good specs it has bad drivers, so it messes up in a lot of games, which one is more future proof?

I think the comment was referring to if you're spending $900 on two HD7970 GHZ Editions, why not spend $900 on two GTX680s as opposed to two GTX670s.

Yeah that is what I meant.

Bit of an assumption but I get the feeling you are confusing the GTX 680 with the GTX 690. The GTX 690 contains two 680 GPU's on the same card and is often compared/benchmarked against simply putting two 680's in SLI.
