Hello - I live in Davao Philippines for work and I finally found a local computer store that sells higher end components but the prices are pretty steep (no Newegg or Amazon here). For example, the video card is 21,500 pesos which = 500 dollars (the GTX 570 is 'on sale' for 15,000 pesos which is 350 bucks)

Is this build worthwhile to replace my 8800GT build:

MSI GTX 670 - GPU
P7Z88 - Motherboard, smaller version
i5 3570k - Processor (wondering if I should switch to a 2011 model)
750w Gold Rated - PSU (forgot the brand, silverstone or something with a 'S')
8 gb standard DDR3 - RAM
Corsair Case
CPU cooler

Roughly 1,500 dollars all told. The other choice is to buy a G55 Asus gaming laptop. I typically play CS GO and Dota 2. I also use excel pretty often, sometimes with files with 400,000 rows.

Solution
no no no no no no and NO.... DO NOT get a cooler-master PSU, you will regret it buddy...

and don't get a standard (OEM) PSU.... go back to that store and make a list (or ask for it) of the PSUs they have, you're basically looking for a:

*XFX
*Seasonic
*PC Power & Cooling
*Corsair (TX. HX or AX series)
*Rosewill (HIVE AND CAPSTONE seriesONLY)
*Antec

i cant give u the tom's hardware sticker but i built a rig a few months ago and with my 670 im playing BF3, Skyrim, Metro, Crysis 2, etc on ultra no prob i think the gtx 670 is the way to go not only casue of the price but the 680 and even the 690 are total over kill for gamming unless your useing really big dual or more screens

btw mine is a EVGA GTX 670 2G FTW edition idk if you can get that where you are tho..

That build looks great, but just a few things...specifically:

*What SSD are you getting? it must be a Samsun 830, Vertex 4, Mushkin Chronos deluxe or a Crucial M4.

*X6 CPU cooler?? make sure you get a CM 212 EVO or something better, let us know what you can buy

*8GB of corsair vengeance... hmmm, make sure its the low profile version or it will not fit under your HS:

*1000w PSU???? even if you get a Second GTX670 your power consumption will not get close to 700w (a quality 750W PSU is recommended for SLI tough)

Everything else seems good...specially the case, damn i love it :D

I am fairly limited in my options. There is a more expensive gold standard 850 watt PSU available but it is over 200 dollars. The 1,000 watt coolermaster one is cheaper. With the RAM, it is low profile :)

The SSD is a performance one - I will have to check on the brand again though unfortunately. Should I get a 600W gold standard PSU instead?
