GTX 680 or 690 for my needs?

Im planning to build a new gaming pc soon. I have a dell ultrasharp u2212hm with 1920x1080 resolution. Im only going to have a one monitor setup as well. So would a GTX 690 be overkill because I plan on playing games such as GTA 4 or when GTA 5 (when it comes out)on high or max setting or games with high demanding graphics such as those. My budget for the entire build will probably be between $1500 to a max of $2000 so price is kind of a concern here.

I'd start with a 670, and see how it does. It should be enough for most games to play near max settings at that resolution and 60hz.

No need for 690 on 1 monitor. A 680 will be just fine and dandy
