Hello all, I have a gaming rig at the moment that I am looking to upgrade. Right now I have a GTX 650 1 Gb card in it which I'm looking for a major upgrade from. So on to my question which card would be better A radeon 7970 or a GTX 680? I have around $500-$600 to spend on a gpu and if you have a better suggestion then it is for sure welcome. My cpu if it matters is an I5-2500k and I normally play Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and will be playing Crysis 3. 1920 x 1080 resolution. Thanks in advance :D

Yes, that's a quality psu it will do for any high end card, the evga 670 4GB GTX FTW+ is overpriced, and the card and the games doesn't take advantage of it.
You can see an e.g here(it's not the ftw, but it's a good 670 with 4GB) : http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/01/14/asus_geforce_gtx_670_directcu_ii_4gb_sli_review/9#.URhA-x1rySo
For 1080p, a 2GB card is suffice, get the 670 gtx 2GB, the 670 gtx non reference goes pretty close to a 680 gtx and 7970, but usually it's cheaper.
Don't forget nvidia has better drivers and features, you might get disappointed with going with amd...
And the psu ?
Since you already had a previous nvidia card, my suggestion goes for a 670 gtx, the performance difference between the 670 and 680 gtx is really minimal, the value price/performance is on the 670 gtx side, you can find some good 670 gtx like the asus dcii, the gigabyte windforce 3x, the msi power edition or evga signature 2.

HD 7970 is almost the same price as GTX 670 but owns GTX 670 and is the same as the more expensive 680. Plus, HD 7970 can be flashed to the ghz edition which is the undisputed single gpu leader.

HD 7970 comes with crysis 3 and bioshock for free if you are in the right spot in the world.

I agree with the 670 2GB being an excellent choice for 1080p, however saying the Nvidia drivers are better and probable disappointment going with AMD is completely Fanboy and absurd.

Well, nvidia drivers are better, you see less complains with nvidia drivers than with amd ones, some prefer the stability of the nvidia drivers, and nvidia offers more features at this point.
But the 7970 from amd is also a good option, but he might be better off with nvidia, since he had already a nvidia card.

Sorry but complaints are everywhere and do not dwell more on one side or the other. I have both setups 7970 and 680 as most in here know I have posted pics. In fact I have not had any problems with the 7970s except for ID's Rage, but my 680's had vsync issues, game crashing, display port bios issues etc. In fact over at Origin there are still issue with Nvidia drivers and Battlefield 3. What offers more features vs relevant features is debatable btw. I have seen more complaints on this forum about Nvidia than I have AMD, but that does not mean AMD is better! Both companies are pretty much level at this point.
