GTX 680 SLI idle temps

My 680s seem to idle quite hot. The top card is at 65 and the bottom at 50. Is this due to having 3 2560 x 1440 monitors?

Sounds like an airflow issue. Thats really high idle temps for those. Both of mine idle at 40-42c. I game at 2560 x 1600 single display.

Yeah they are both reference.

No there is no slot between them. I figured that they were normal, I just wanted to make sure. When gaming they only go up to like 75~80.

Yeah just run a custom fan curve that's all, it will be loud. I got mine set @ 80% at like 65c or something close. I usually never go past 65c I even have a AP-15 fans blowing behind them. I might grab a third 680 but then I will need to watercool them!

Yeah I was thinking about getting a 3rd as well. I just got a new case and I think Ill also try messing with the air flow patters and see if I can get some better cooling to the GPUs, I really don't want to have to liquid cool for 3 but if I have to I guess I would.

Yeah definitely try messing around with air cooling a couple of fans can make a huge difference. I like high static pressure fans for this purpose btw!

Having more than 1 monitor hooked up to the cards causes an extra 10+ C temp at idle, and having no space between the cards adds another 10+ C. If there is any way to separate them, that would be advisable, as long as you have at least PCIe x8 or better.
