Hello I was thinking of getting a gtx 780, but a friend said there is barely any difference between the 780 and 680. He said there isn't going to be a difference in the games you play and the gtx 680 will last at least 10 years.

This is my computer. Should I get the 680 or 780? Does my computer even have power to use the 780. I still intend to keep the 650 for physx. I also need to buy a new sound card. Will I have enough power usage for that as well?

There is a massive difference between a 680 and 780, and neither will last you 10 years.
Though that does depend on the "the games you play", if all you play is WoW, League of Legends and those kinds of games, then there wont be any effective difference between the two. Its only in intensive games like Crysis 3, Metro Last Light and such where the performance delta will be apparent.

Really, if the above situation is true then the 650Ti you have is fine.
Given that pre-built machines usually have horrible PSU's, would replace it with a good unit anyway before you trust it to run $650 worth of graphics card.

Thanks, I want to run the max setting on the latest games. I know the 600 series run low on power. I have 750 watts of power. Do you think I can run both a 780 and a 650 as well as a soundcard?

Its not the wattage of the PSU I'm concerned about, but its quality. Generic PSU's have habit of not being able to support what it says on the sticker and of dying (and bringing the rig with it) if you tried.
Are there any brand names on the PSU, model numbers, anything along the lines of 80+ Certification?

750 psu will not handle a 650 and a 780 at the same time I will only use ultra products for psu they have lasted me for years. currently running the 1200 watt x4

I just opened the tower and turns out it's 700 watts. It's from Xtreme Gear. The model is XG-H700. Can I run a GTX 780 as well as a GTX 650 as well as a creative sound card on it? I didn't find anything that says 80+. Thanks in advance.

As I thought, generic brand and un-certified. Cant find any info about the PSU except some second-hand info from a couple of forum threads, its not good. The unit seems to be an over-rated 450-500W PSU, and when it retailed went for $40, which is right in the price bracket for terrible PSU's.

I recommend you buy yourself a new PSU before you get a 780. Considering what you want to d o with the rig, would say get a 750W PSU. This one is quite good and currently has a massive deal on it.
Corsair TX750, 80+ Bronze. $110 ($20 rebate and $20 code)

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Thank you, I don't know much about computer parts. But, will this psu be compatible with my MSI X79A-GD45 motherboard?
