I am looking forward to purchasing the GTX 690 with a 750w PSU.

My main concern is the casing for my computer and if this build would be temperature safe and performance efficient to use with the GTX 690.

Operating System: Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200)
Motherboard: Intel B75 Express Chipset
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 32GB (1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM)
Monitor: ViewSonic VX2453 (1920 x 1080)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 (EVGA)
Power Supply: Kingwin Lazer Platinum Series LZP-750 (750-Watt)
Case: CoolerMaster Elite 431

I see that the features for my case actually do specify "Supports high-end graphics cards up to 315mm / 12.4" in length, including AMD HD 7970 and NVIDIA GTX 690 " at it's home page here < http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6736 > but I would like to hear some personal/professional opinions as well, and maybe even some advice.

(Note: I do not plan to overclock, room temperature is typically 69 degrees.)

Why are you getting a GTX690? Totally overkill for 1080p. A single 680 would be enough.

On the other hand, that case does seems to cool decently and the 690 isn't really a hot card. If you find temps to be a bit higher than you'd like, install more fans.

Yes of course, but a GTX680 can run most games at ultra already and give more than playable frame rates. Personally, I think the 690 is more suitable if you're gaming at 2560x1440/2560x1600 or multi-monitor (ie. 3x1080p).

Very interesting. From what I understand, to reap the full visual benefits of the GTX 690 I would need to look forward to getting a new monitor as well, but in the mean time until I get a new monitor, I can play with adaptive vsync to avoid tearing right?

It would. Unfortunately on a 60HZ monitor, anything over 60FPS is wasted.

IF you have enough to spend, i would say get a 120HZ monitor and a Gtx690.

Right now, I think it's probably better for OP to wait for reviews on the Titan card. If it's priced lower and performs just as good, that may be the best choice. Plus, there's no need for driver fixing SLI issues and there's more VRAM as well.

First of all GTX 690 isn't overkill for 1080P, it's just a (2 GTX 670 In SLI) some modern games are very intensive @ 1080P like Far Cry3, Metro 2033, Crysis 3, Hitman Absolution and much more...when enabling certain settings top high.

Also, this system is a little bit inconvenient, Having a $1000 GPU with $40 case and $180 CPU and 32GB of RAM!!!!!!! and $70 Mobo isn't rational, besides this PSU isn't a Quality PSU.

Since you plan to OC, get Core i5 3570K with a Z77 board, get a better airflow case like CM HAF X or the Storm Trooper, put up a nice SSD and A quality PSU from Antec, Corsair or Seasonic. Get a single GTX 670, if you aint happy with performance get another one to SLI and you'd be probably saving at least $200.

Well I generally am only playing 3 games right now, they are...

Second Life
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
DayZ (Arma2: Combined Operations Mod)

What single card would you suggest to handle these 3 games on max settings (including draw distance) and stay great temperature and constant at 120 FPS.

I have 3930K and GTX 690, using single 1920x1080p monitor.
When playing in 2D, the latest games like Tomb Raider, Metro: Last Light, Bioshock Infinite with everything set to maximum detail (yes, I don't settle for Medium), the GTX 690 is only sufficient. It's not overkill. Batman: Arkham City, my GPU is just enough with DX11 settings. Not overkill at all. And I know my CPU isn't bottlenecking for a few years at least.
When playing in 3D, the latest games I just mentioned (on Maximum settings), cause my GPU to be "not enough". It's far away from overkill, definitely.
In 2D, I can't play Metro: Last Light with 4x SSAO since the fps just drops to hell (less than 30). I get fps drops in Tomb Raider also. Not to mention what happens in 3D, and many other games.
I'd say GTX 690 with one monitor is barely enough for an enthusiast. You can forget about vsync in the latest titles for sure, because it's not gonna hit 60 in them all the time.
Overkill is the worst lie ever heard about that GPU @ 1080p.

Also there has been NONE SLI-driver issues with this card. Never had a single problem with using both cores (which I do all the time).

Because ppl still browse answers for their own issues from these threads? It's not like the OP is the only one looking for info.
