First I will list my specs, and then the issue that I am having.
Desktop:
Windows 8 Pro
Intel i5-3570k
32Gb 1866 Ripjaw Ram
EVGA GTX 690
750W Thermaltake
750Gb Hybrid SDHDD
Three 24in ASUS 1080p + One 40in Samsung 1080p
I am experiencing lag on older games. To be specific, I recently purchased the latest Command and Conquer collection and pre-Generals will only get 10 to 20 FPS. I really enjoy playing these older games and am curious as to why this system has a difficult time with them. My laptop (specs: i7-3740, 32Gb 1600 Ram, GTX 675m) can handle any of these games perfectly.
I have tried adjusting the games graphical settings and eliminating all but one moniter, but still have issues. My desktop can run other older games perfectly (Hitman: Codename 47, Assassins Creed, Age of Empires, Tomb Raider, etc.) and also it can run Crysis 3 on the highest possible settings with Tessilation on 1920p x 1080p. Can run on High settings with no AA in 5760p x 1080p.
Is there a fix that can help my computer communicate with certain older games better? Is it simply a compatibility issue between the software of the game and computer hardware?
Any ideas? I'm more or less curious and am always looking to learn more about the inner workings of my computer.
BTW: Crysis 3 on the absolute highest settings is GORGEOUS!!!
