GTX 750 TI and core 2 duo ??

I have core 2 duo I am thinking to buy gtx 750Ti (only play games on 1280*720 resolution or 1280*1024 at max) will it bottleneck 30 fps are enough. If it bottleneck then how good will core 2 quad q6600 replacement work ? will it give me about 30 fps in all modern games on 1280*720 graphics setting acceptable is medium in both cases

Best way to know is to just try it. I think you will get pretty close. Lowering resolution doesn't help a CPU bottleneck. You might see the same performance at either resolution. The Q6600 is dirt cheap on Ebay. I would get one of those too.

You will need a quad core to use full potential of that card. Q6600 is recommended. If your motherboard supports Q9550, that would be even better (which mobo do you have?). On such low resolutions you can expect high details and good framerates in most games. Just make sure that you have enough memory - the minimum should be about 6GB, preferably 8.

I still have my Q6600 and a GTX760. I have Linux installed and so for an experiment I installed Steam and downloaded a few games.

Half-Life 2 - Runs perfectly, its a game pre-dating the CPU/GPU so you would expect so.
Bioshock Infinite - Runs perfectly well on [default] medium settings. Medium settings aren't mediocre settings.
City Skylines - Runs perfectly well on High settings.

All at 1080p

Its just a sample from the games that I had available on Linux. I didn't experiment with the settings, just installed them and left the defaults. I was just curious what would run and what wouldn't on the Q6600.

So, from my experiment I think you might be surprised and happy if you can get a Q6600 from ebay. Esp as I think the 760 is lower performing than the 750ti and you are running at less than 1080p. For sure a cheap upgrade option to keep you going for a year or two.

You might want to consider upgrading most of your components. buying an Core 2 Duo is not really that relevant in 2017

get CPU-Z or Speccy and runs it it will tell you what you got under motherboard information.

just copy and paste, upgrading cheaply to a q6660 to even QX9350 (like 100$) would renew that old desktop
