GTX 750 Ti not recognized by my system. Not sure what the problem is.

When I first installed my Zotac GTX 750 Ti on my Thinkcentre m90p 4231, everything works. I was using a dvi to vga adapter here. I let my pc run overnight because I was downloading games to test how my gpu performs. But when I opened my monitor the next day, it wasn't showing any display. So I immediately turned off the pc, then removed the gpu. But I think I did something wrong with this part. I just pulled it out. There was a screeching sound. I thought it was fine. I plugged it back in and it still wasn't recognized by my pc. I know it's working because I can see the fan spinning and all. What could be the problem? Is it the gpu or the pcie slot? Or maybe the power supply? Please help me know my problem. Thank you so much.

Heres what I already did to troubleshoot:
-uninstall drivers with DDU then reinstall ( in this case I can't reinstall because it isn't being identified)
-update BIOS (already in latest version for my pc)
-let it rest for a week then place it back again
-cry a lot

I don't know what could have made the screeching sound simply removing the card, unless you failed to release the latching tab on the PCIe x16 slot.
If the card was working fine, then suddenly quit, it sounds like it is a defective card. Try it on a friend's PC.

Can it still be considered defective even if the fans are running when I plug it in? I am not sure myself.

The fan(s) spinning is totally independent of the GPU producing a video output. If the card originally produced a display but no longer does, it would appear it is defective. But test it on another machine to know for sure. No drivers are needed for the card to produce a display at bootup. Drivers are only needed once you are in the Windows environment, and then only to get the best performance from the card.

so I have it tested on another machine and it's working well. I even bought an hdmi to vga adapter, thinking that the problem could only be the dvi to vga adapter. When I plug it in the hdmi to vga adapter, it's showing only black, instead of the "check analog cable" screen that is showing when it is plugged to the dvi to vga adapter. Now I am more confused.

I have the one with 24+5 pins. I am not sure what kind of dvi port is that.

I have the one at the bottom. But when I checked the free adapter I have, it looked like this:

They looked different. I'll try finding dvi to vga adapters here. Hopefully that's the problem.

On the bottom? Bottom of what? All I see in the photo is a DVI to VGA adapter. What does the DVI port on the gfx card look like?
