hey guys, i'm totally new to building and never even intended to get this far, but i guess i should have done more research prior to buying a 750 TI.

so i have an HP pavillion p6-2041mem (it's only available in the middle east, i bought it in 2012 when i was living there). the specs for it can be found here:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03145264

the other day, i was trying to play recent game releases and realised that my computer literally can not handle running them, even on low settings and low screen resolution, it struggles and if i do manage to get 60 fps, it looks horrible because of the settings / resolution. so i decided to get a gigabyte gtx 750 ti, and didn't realise there was so much more to simply clicking the "buy" button.

so i got it the next day, opened up my computer, took out the old nvidia geforce gt 530 (not even gtx haha) and put in the new one, then tried to boot my computer. it turns on, straight away the fan sounds like its trying really hard, my computer starting getting really loud (usually only happens when theres a lot of cpu usage) and my usb perhiperals were not being powered, for example my mouse and xbox controller had no light on, it was pretty much off. and usually, i need to hold the power button to turn my pc off, but this time the blue light was slightly dim and it turned off the second i pressed the off button.

i looked on this forum for some answers, and realised i had a 300w psu, and i thought - easy! just get a new psu, and the problem will be solved. i got a corsair cx600, with 600w, and i installed it in. i turned the pc on, only for the exact same thing to happen. i read up on this forum again, other people with a problem similar to this said they had to uninstall the drivers for their old card before installing the new card, so i used a DDU that someone recommended to me, and got rid of every trace of the nvidia geforce gt 530 drivers, then reinstalled the 750 ti. the same issue stands.

now people are telling me that the problem is my motherboard. the specs of my pc are in the link above ^ but i will post the motherboard specs here anyway:

Manufacturer: Foxconn
Form factor: uATX - 24.4 cm (9.6 inches) x 22.0 cm (8.7 inches)
Chipset: Intel H61
Memory sockets: 2 x DDR3
Front side bus speeds: 5 GT/s (DMI bus)
Processor socket: LGA 1155
Expansion Slots:
1 PCI Express x16 (Gen2.0)
3 PCI Express x1 (Gen2.0)
1 PCI Express Mini Card x1

seems super outdated right? so i looked for a new motherboard, i micro atx one, and theres a lot on the market, seems simple - but my processor socket is an LGA1155 (because its obviously outdated) and all these new ones are 1151 or 1150, so i thought - just get a new processor, so i looked up i7 processors and they turn out to be about $500 and i'm not sure if i want to be spending that to upgrade this trash pc. if anyone seems to know what the problem is, let me know! i'm a total newbie as stated before, and i'm skeptical of constantly buying new (relatively expensive) items under the possibility that it MIGHT fix the problem. new motherboard or not, please help me identify / fix the issue here.

thank you in advance!
