I was curious around what my fps would be in most games today if I were to get my third monitor and it be a 1920x1080. Right now I have two monitors. One is 1440x900 and one is 1600x900.

PC Specs:
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965
RAM: 12 GB
GPU: GTX 760 2GB
(in case it matters) 120 GB SSD

It depends on the game you're playing. I used to have a EVGA 760 and it was pretty decent at running most games on max settings on 1080p at playable frame rates. I mostly played Battlefield 4 in the time I bought mine, but for what it was worth, the 380, 960, 390, or 970 are much better options nowadays.

I am looking into a 970 but I don't have that much right now. I can only afford the monitor because it's on sale for $100.

I'm not even sure you can get 760's anymore, whatever you find now is mostly just leftover stock. I would personally push for a 960 or a 380 at least, last time I checked, 760's dropped down to just over $200 with the release of the 900 series cards which is what the 960's and 380's run for and they are modern, newly-released cards.

The 960 is a pile of shit in comparison to the 970. It would be better to go for a 970. Like I said, though, I can't afford it right now.

You are correct, but given your price range, the 960 and 380 are your best options. Now, I would also personally say strive for the 970 - I have one myself and plan on doing SLI in the next few months, and I love it. Compared to the 760 you originally were curious about, the 960 is significantly better and just fine for 1080p, the 970 is mainly for 1440p, entry-level 4K, and mid-high range 4K when in SLI.

Well, my 760 should be able to handle the monitor until i can upgrade to a 970. If I were to even get a 960 is the 4 GB even worth it?

The 1080p monitor will be the only one at a time running a game. The other ones will be doing other stuff, but it will be browser things.

And you're asking whether 4GB is enough on a new 970? The 970 doesn't come in any other variants than 4GB that I'm aware of. 1080p is starting to push 3GB with Textures included, some games I know of are BF4 and Titanfall but the extra 1GB is going to be more beneficial in 1440p/4K gaming or playing games in 5760x1080 or something.

I have no intention to play in 1440p or 4K

It's going to be more than enough then, I'd recommend at least 3GB on 1080p resolution. But on the bright side, it will provide a bit of future-proof if later on you decide to upgrade your monitor(s).
