GTX 760 4GB or a GTX 770? Much Difference?

As the title states. I've been an AMD guy for a while. the new R series cards from AMD don't seem all that special, and to be quite honest, for the first time it seems like nVidia has a better price😛erformance ratio. The card I was looking at is a Gigabyte GTX-760 4gb OC. Seems like a good card for the price, and better than my 2 radeon 6850's.

770 is about 15% performance increase, or about 10-20 fps higher than the 760. 2gb vs 4gb really doesn't matter unless your pushing multiple monitors which would require more than a 760 or 770 anyways.

A 2GB GTX 770 is still better than a 4GB GTX 760. the 760 cannot fully utilise the 4GB so it is wasted for a single monitor setup. The R9 280X (HD 7970 GhZ edition) is the rival to the GTX 770.
Prices depends on your location and currency but in most areas, the R9 series cards will be cheaper or cost the same as the GTX equivalent.

How is the 280x the rival to the 770 when it's slower than the 760?

So you're telling me this XFX DD R9 280X @ 850 Core 1Ghz Boost is going to perform better than this GTX 760 @ 1085 Core and 1150 boost?

That doesn't make any sense to me. I must be missing something, please elaborate.

You cannot compare clock speed between AMD and Nvidia since they use different gpu architecture. Also each gpu lineup uses different gpu chips so you cannot compare clock speed with a GTX 780 vs GTX 770.
To compare performance, you have to look up benchmarks in games. Of course the card with a higher number in the series is most likely the higher performing card.

Hmm, that still doesn't make sense to me. At all. So basically core clock is just a marketing ploy and means absolutely nothing at all.

If we went by core clock a 280x is only 100mhz faster than my 6850 lmfao

Will my Corsair AX850 Gold have any trouble with running the 760, 770, or R9 280X?

Your AX 850 can run any single gpu setup. It can also do two R9 290 in crossfire or GTX 780Ti SLI.

I decided on this GIGABYTE GV-R928XOC-3GD REV2 Radeon R9 280X 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card Think that's a pretty reliable card?
