Bought a GTX 760 Jetstream coming from an R9 270X...and now i cant install the drivers...

Tried the DDU thinggy and delete the amd and nvidia drivers and it still does the error...it says its incompatible

tried the device manager hardware id thinggy and it says installation failed

My os was Windows 7 64 bit and just upgraded to windows 10 and still doesnt work

when i go to device manager and check display adapters it shows standard vga thinggy (aka onboard graphics of my i5 3470)

Specs:
Intel Core i5 3470
8gb HyperX DDR3 Ram
Palit GTX 760 Jetstream 2GB
ECS H61H2-M17

i just wanna pull out all my hair and throw my cpu into the trash...

EDIT: Yep i tried other versions too...

make a linux USB drive, boot to it you can at least test the new GPU in a fresh OS environment.
without another system to test the card on, you have no other way of determining its viability, testing for hardware conflicts.

Nope...im installing it on a pc i built my own

I dont know about linux that much but..theres a computer shop thinggy near my place and i can test it there...

Sorry for my bad english

typically inserting a card in the PCIe slot will disable the onboard. Have you checked the BIOS for any settings therein which may be helpful?

the GTX card draws more amperage than the r9. what is your power supply situation? Can it supply 30A on the 12V rail?
r9 needs 24A, GTX needs 30A.

oh damn...that might be the reason...i think it's my power supply...its only 600w and its a Korean psu...i tried r9 270x with these psu and it works but sometimes it crashes so it might be the reason...and an update..just checked my device manager and display adapters...It only shows intel hd graphics tho...and yeah Fans are spinning just like always...and the pins on the gpu are a bit scratched but it's good news that the fans are spinning right?

EDIT: Do you think an Aerocool Strike-X 600w is enough for this? the non modular one

EDIT: this is my psu atm...does it support 30a?

in any case the system should see the card when it is installed, either through the device manager or as a driver installation dialog at bootup.
I just checked and the palit card has 2 dual link DVI ports which will carry an analog signal so its not the DVI-VGA adapter.

as an aside when I built my nephews computer I discovered that his motherboard tested fine and worked great, so did his power supply, but they simply would not work together. Any other PSU we tried worked great, just not together. I ended up with his PSU and vice versa, maybe something similar here.

Its not going to work with the monitor plugged into the motherboard and not the GPU. Make sure you boot up the system with the monitor plugged into the card (while its powered off), so it can detect the card is the primary gpu at power on.

it won't work but it will show up in the device manager, which it isn't. that is the crux of the issue here, the system refuses to acknowledge the card in any way, cables are about the last thing to worry about at this point.

No. Most motherboards will just revert to IGPU and not even enable the discrete card if it doesnt detect an monitor output (unless you have IGPU multi monitor enabled).
