I am looking at these two video cards and I want to know if the performance difference in them is worth the price difference also I only have core 2 quad q9550 and DDR2 PC2-6400 ram so i'm thinking any major difference would be crippled by that. All i'm looking to do is max most games at 1440x900.

There is a significant performance difference between the two. However, since you're only going to be playing at a 1440x900 resolution, I would go with the 750 ti. You will not have to worry about upgrading your psu that way either.

If you don't mind going with AMD, the r7 265 costs the same, but offers more performance. It uses more power though. What psu do you have?

You dont think my C2Q q9550 will get bottleneck from the 760?

Well, the 760's max power consumption is around 175W and peak gaming power consumption is around 160W, so theoretically you should be fine with your current psu.

Only having a total of 36A dedicated to the +12V rails is a little suspicious though. A good 600W psu will have around 45A on the +12V rail(s).

Oh, then that sounds fine, although that would mean your psu is more likely 700W (which just means you should get the gtx 760 then).

Hmmm, that's pretty weird. My guess is that it was just a driver or faulty card issue with the 550 ti because it should've performed better than the 8600 gt.

I meant the 8800 gt lol. But still it should have blown it away and it did when it was paired with a c2q q8400 but the older c2d was only like 1.86 ghz but im not sure the exact model i just know almost every game it bottlenecked that 550 ti bad
